The Africayam project has 3 primary outcomes which includes
Active yam breeding programs in four countries in West Africa (Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and Benin) capable of developing and regularly releasing new varieties suited to market demand and local conditions
Improved efficiency of yam breeding programs through use of faster and more precise tools and methods
Improved yam genotypes adapted to production systems and suited to market preferences nominated for release.
