IITA Deputy Director General, R4D, Dr. Saethre, May-Guri with the Head of Administration, West Africa Hub (WAH), Sylvia Oyinlola were at the Yam Breeding Unit for a scheduled meeting with WAH scientists based in Ibadan.

The tour which was scheduled for 9th -10th Oct, 2018 is part of the DDG’s visits to the various stations and hubs to discuss with IITA scientists on their work, successes and challenges.
Brief stop-over at the Mapping Population Field
She was received in front of the unit’s Semi-Autotrophic Hydroponics (SAH) lab by the Yam Team, headed by IITA Yam Breeder, Dr. Asrat Amele who explained the activities in the SAH lab, field plots and Screen House.
Some display of confectioneries made from up to 50% of yam flour were showcased to further portray the different uses and potentials for yams.

The tour further proceeded to the field were the genome wide association study (GWAS) and mapping populations trials were shown to the DDG by Dr. Amele.
